Ray D. Johnson
Our Founder 1925-1991
Ray Johnson learned very early that hard work was the key to success. Ray served in the Army (Air Force in World War II) and served his country while stationed in the Philippines. After his return from the war, Ray took a job with the Holland Furnace Company as a service technician. Soon after, Ray started his own company named Ray Johnson Air Filter Service in 1951. Then a few years later it became Ray Johnson Heating & Plumbing. The original company was born in Mt. Pleasant in 1951 but later moved to the Norvelt area in 1960 to a building which was located near the Rustic Drive-In Theater. In 1971, Ray purchased the current property which was known as the “auction barn” and began remodeling the building to suit his Heating & Air Conditioning Company and launch Johnson’s Hardware. Ray remained active as President of Johnson’s until his retirement in 1990. Bruce Johnson was named President at that time and remains the active leader of Johnson’s. Ray passed away in 1991 at the age of 65.
Bruce A. Johnson
Past President
When Ray Johnson retired in 1990, Bruce Johnson was named President of Johnson’s. Bruce has successfully grown the once small company into one of the largest heating and cooling companies in Western Pennsylvania, with over 20 trucks on the road daily! Since a teenager, Bruce has dedicated himself to employment at Johnson’s. He’s proud of his 40 year plus years with the company, proud of the people that make Johnson’s great, and proud of its continuous growth each and every year. Bruce resides in Greensburg with his wife Monica of 30 years and has two children, Ryan and Kelly.
When Bruce Johnson made the difficult decision to retire and sell the company, his desire was to find a buyer that would make the transition as seamless as possible. The company has been very strong over the years and has a rich tradition that he wanted to see continue ongoing into the future.
Bruce handed off the business to Rob Jorgenson as the new owner of Johnson’s Heating and Supplies, Inc. Rob and his family reside in southwestern Indiana County. He was a former marketing executive with a regional bank and has extensive financial industry experience. Rob has always had a desire to be an entrepreneur and business owner and is very excited to continue his career and continue the legacy that Bruce and his father Ray have forged.
